never gonna happen...5

Finishing up his speech to his colleagues present in the meeting, Jordan was relieved that it would soon be over and he could leave the dreaded stuffiness of it all.

As Jordan regained his seat and looked across the room, The oldest member of the board spoke up and replied that they would reconvene after lunch and anyone with concerns would be able to voice them at that time.

Jordan groaned with displeasure silently and stood to his feet. "Lets go eat Man," said the guy nearest Jordan. "They have great hoagies down in the cafe of this place." Jordan reluctantly agreed wishing he could just leave to his office where more pressing matters were waiting.

As Jordan's colleague and friend was stepping from the elevator he accidently bumped into a computer cart driven by a woman looking down to adjust the now unbalanced equipment.

As she looked up, Jordan recognized that it was the same woman from one day earlier. He immediately got off of the elevator and helped her to situate her cart back in order. In doing so he announced with a smile, "It's you!"

Casey looked up to him and was shocked to see him. She could feel her face turn a deep crimson and looked around the lobby for somewhere to run and hide. Seeing no where to dodge him, Casey smiled shyly and put out her hand to shake.

"I'm Casey, nice to meet you Jordan Hunter." she said.

"Well, I guess you actually did read my card if you know my name", he said.

The man that had been with Jordan suddenly spoke up and announced that he was going on to the cafe and Jordan said he would catch up to him in a while. The man smiled at Casey and darted down the corridor.

Walking slowly side by side with the cart in front of them, Jordan and Casey made small talk. She told him about her reasons behind being at the hotel and why she was in town, and he did the same. Casey asked him directly why he had given her his card thinking that he must have had her mistaken for someone he knew. Jordan denied it saying he had no intention of making her feel bad and said that he used it as his only excuse to maybe be able to talk with her in the future and now here they were.

As they reached a small alcove, Casey situated the cart so that it was out of the way until she could return to it for the afternoon's presentation.

Jordan asked quietly, "Casey, would you have lunch with me?"

Casey looked down embarrassed and saw the shiny gold band on his third finger signifying exactly what she had already known to be true.

"I don't think your wife would approve of such, do you Mr. Hunter?" she said.

Jordan followed her eyes to his ring and then looked up to meet her eyes. Damn, she's got beautiful eyes he thought to himself.

"Well, I would hope that having lunch with someone wouldn't be indicative of adultery." he chuckled amused.

"Because if so, then I would be in deep trouble with all of the lunches I have shared during business hours over the years".

Casey felt silly to have blurted out such a statement. Of course they could have lunch she thought to herself, what would it hurt. It was a public place, and it was just lunch. She agreed and they walked together towards the Hotel Cafe.

They stood at the entrance to the restaurant and was soon met by the hostess who sat them in a corner table, announced the soup dejour, and then left Jordan and Casey alone with their leather-bound menus.

Casey jumped at the chance to sneak peeks of Jordan while hiding behind her menu.

"God, he is so handsome." she thought dreamily.

"Casey, damnit, listen to yourself", her conscience told her. "He's married!!"

After a few more moments of just the two of them, the waiter came over and took their orders. The food arrived and Jordan and Casey settled into their meals chit chatting happily in intervals during their lunch.
