When they finished their lunches and the conversation had reached a lull, they both looked around for the waiter to bring them a check. Casey reached into the pocket of her slacks for money to pay the bill. "Let me get this." she said. Jordan seemed ok with it and after she put some bills in the binder that held the bill, they walked to the exit.
Jordan looked at Casey and they both started to talk niceties of how much they enjoyed lunching together.
"When do you return home?", Jordan asked her.
"Tomorrow is my last day here, I will probably get on the road by 4pm."
Jordan looked past Casey and it seemed as if he wanted to say somethng else but then just glanced back at her with a small smile on his face.
"Well, I guess I better go get set up for my afternoon session." Casey said.
"You have my number still don't you?" he asked. "Please call if you are ever in town again. That card has my email address too, if anything you could always send me an email."
Casey affirmed nodding, then smiling, she whispered goodbye, turned, and walked away.
Jordan watched her walk down the corridor and then left to find his way back to the meeting room.
Casey walked down the hallway to find her abandoned cart to push back to her seminar. She sighed wishing that Jordan was single and that she could actually have a chance to get to know him. She knew she'd never call him or write because she didn't want to interfere in his family life. Pushing her thoughts aside, Casey joined the others in the room and put her mind set into finishing up the afternoon.
It was just about 5pm when Jordan pushed his chair back anxiously awaiting the adjourning of the meeting. He stifled a yawn and started flicking his pencil between his fingers to waste time. "Jesus, I'm bored to tears." he thought. Jordan had been thinking for a while, not just about his mundane work, but his life in general. "I honestly am bored with it all."
Suddenly, Jordan had a thought. He gathered his things and excused himself early. He deposited everything he had with him in his car, locked the door and went back into the lobby of the hotel. He walked along the halls looking for the one room that he might be able to find Casey in. Jordan didn't realize that there were at least 10 meeting rooms in the hotel. He listened outside of them, one by one and figured if he heard any activity, that he would just take a quick peek to see if he could spot Casey.
As he got to the last door, he saw the temporary sign tacked up on the wall "COUNTY GIS SEMINAR". "DUH, I guess this is the room" he thought. Jordan leaned into the door to listen for voices and heard a lot of shuffling around and chatter. He opened the double doors slightly just enough to catch a glimpse of what was happening in the room. He looked around and saw that people were huddled in groups amidst the room and heavy in discussions within the groups.
Jordan walked in, secure in the knowledge that he wouldn't even be noticed. Though he was nervous, he couldn't wait to lay eyes on Casey and hoped she would be glad to see him too.
Casey caught sight of Jordan before he was able to approach her and she walked over to where he was standing.
"What in the world are you doing in here?", she whispered.
"I got bored, thought you might want to run off to Mexico together." Jordan grinned.
Casey looked at him as if he had lost his mind. She couldn't help but giggle at the ridiculous notion of it. She didn't even know this man. She looked directly at him.
"Gosh" she said, "I would really love that, but unfortunately I'm due to return inland tomorrow and I am pretty positive your family would worry if you suddenly disappeared without a trace." she grinned.
Jordan smiled back at her enjoying the challenge.
"Come on, lets just get out of here and go somewhere.. Anywhere!!" he yelled out.
At the outburst some of the people around the room looked their way. Casey told Jordan to hang on and let her get her stuff together and she'd leave with him.
"Where do you plan on taking me?" she asked when they were outside the conference room alone together.
"Well, he smiled coyly. I was thinking about maybe your suite upstairs."
Casey immediately felt threatened. She hadn't expected him to say that to her. Then again, he was a married man and she suddenly sensed where this was headed.
"Jordan, I... uhh", she stammered.
"Whoa, whoa he said reaching out to touch her elbow gently. "I have no intentions of ravaging your body, thank you very much even if deep down you know you want me to" he said smugly.
Casey felt her cheeks flush. "How could he read me so well", she thought to herself. Casey agreed to the arrangement with him to come to her room. After all, this was the most excitement she had had in her life in a long time and she was not about to miss out. Casey figured the most that would happen would be that they might have a few laughs watching whatever happened to be on the television and then Jordan would leave to go home to his family.
Jordan asked if it would be ok if she went on ahead up to her room while he made a phone call. Casey agreed, assuming he would be calling his wife to alert her that he would be arriving home later than usual.
As Casey got on the elevator and pushed the 5th floor button, she was beginning to feel that this surely must be how "THE OTHER WOMAN" feels as they begin their relationships with married men.
It was too exciting to turn down, but inside your mind, things were spinning around like crazy. Warning signals were ignored as Casey unlocked her room and once inside, waited for Jordan to knock on her door.
